about Nina

If you would have told me years ago, while I was working in law enforcement, that I would eventually start my own baking company I, and others who knew me back then, would have laughed and probably given you a snort of derision and said "I don't think so" but you just never know where life takes you.

 

After retiring a "couple" of years ago, I did some volunteer work and eventually became involved with home rentals. At first, I use to buy muffins and brand name treats to leave for my guest only to learn that they were way too sweet and often times, they were left untouched. I decided to start baking for my guests, leaving treats that I know they would enjoy in the morning with a good cup of coffee like corn muffins, pound cake, and coffee cake muffins, even an occasional brownie. I felt it was a more personal touch and I just loved that the guests left no crumbs behind. That only inspired me to bake more and be a little bit more varied in what I was leaving for them. Who knew that it would become a passion for me.

You can't beat that feeling you get when someone eats what you make then raves about how delicious it is. Now it's time to share those treats with you.

So one of the questions I get quite often is...why "Nina's" where did I come up with that name?  Well if you know me, Nina is not my birth name but it is my nickname.  When my godson was young he couldn't say Madrina which means Godmother in Spanish, so it was shortened to Nina and that's what he called me and still does today.  When his sister was born two years later, that's the name she knew me as so it stuck with her and now even their friends call me Nina...and I love hat.
